Because the reported hasn't answered the question asked in April this
year, because the it seems to be caused by corrupted settings --
suggestiont to fix: remove the .gconf2 and .config directories from your
home directory when logged out of the graphical environment and log back
in -- and because the next release of Ubuntu, Karmic, has been released
previous month I'm marking this bug as Invalid.

If it does occur again in karmic, please feel free to open the bug again and 
attach .xsession-errors.
