Tried linux-backports-modules-2.6.31-14-generic and linux-backports-modules-2.6.31-14-karmic with exactly the same result: Unstable connections above 54Mb/s on 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
With all driver versions the connection is rock solid if the accesspoints (Netgear WNDR 3700) maximum rate is limited to 54Mb/s. Did anybody see iwconfig show a bit rate higher than 54Mb/s ?
