I can concur this on Dell D600, both stick buttons and touchpad buttons seem to miss ButtonPress and Button release event's on random starting with 9.10 release. No such problems on 9.04 or any of the previous releases.
This is also easy to replicate on 9.10 Desktop 32-bit installation Live-CD: boot from cd, open terminal, launch xev from the terminal, activate xev window and start clicking on it while mouse cursor is on the xev window. On the terminal you should see a ButtonPress and ButtonRelease event for every click, but randomly either one could be missing.
