Chris, I have good news and bad news for ya... I've had hibernation working almost perfectly on this model before, but I can't recall exactly how I did it! I seem to recall searching for "ubuntu alternate hibernation method" a release or three back...
The way I use my laptop, hibernation isn't really that useful, so I quit bothering with it -- just kinda happened on the suspend stuff accidentally (seems to be on by default in Koala). If memory serves correctly, there's a software suspend module you can load and an udev script that works like a charm. I haven't looked at what they're using in Karmic, but I suspect it's the opposite of what worked for me previously. I'll see if I can dig up the procedure (not on the laptop at the moment -- actually trying to clean a Windoze virus on another computer...). Best of luck! ~Clay P.S. "telus.net"? Canuck? Me too!
