Version of HPLIP is 1.6.6a from hplip.sf.net. I have compiled it without problems. This problem happens also with the Ubuntu shipped version of HPLIP.
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> told me that it is something like a system issue. I will try my DeskJet 6840 on a new computer soon, and then I will see.
