As a Java developer that uses Maven professionally and develops on Ubuntu every day I would strongly suggest to upgrade Maven. Otherwise I would actually remove Maven2 as a package since that would at least force users to install from the upstream tar and use the latest one instead of using the old 2.0.9 release and suffer from some of the severe problems with it that are actually really hard to find sometimes.
