oh yes, my os for the above is Ubuntu Desktop 8.04 with all the updates as of 2009-08-04
at one point, when I installed one of the upgrade cycles, it did break the Broadcom Wireless. Since I don't use it much I can't tell you which specific upgrade broke it. But that is what forced me to reinstall it in order to get it working.
