I built 2.6.30 r8 from source and it didn't help at all. Although, my problem
with the Intel 3945 on Jaunty is that it never even connected to the WPA2
secured hidden wireless network in the first place... Windows 7 (build 7100)
can connect fine, as could Hardy, can't remember whether Ibex/Intrepid could
but I guess not judging from how I've left Windows running solely on the laptop
for the last 6 months.

Pierpaolo: did you use the standard jaunty kernel with oldconfig? that's
what I did.

This is the list of things I've tried so far in the order I tried them:
Backported modules=fail
Latest iwl3945 microcodes=fail
Wicd=fail
Ubuntu proposed kernel 2.6.28-13=failed beause not all packages were in the
repos
kernel.org 2.6.30 r8 with oldconfig from standard jaunty 2.6.28-11 kernel=fail
Ubuntu proposed kernel 2.6.28-13=fail

Going to reinstall Jaunty again and try updating again. Won't bother
compiling the 2.6.30 kernel again unless i see a fix somewhere in the
changelog tho.
