Hello, I had the same problem with Ubuntu 9.04 amd64 running kernel 2.6.28-11-generic. I have now installed the mainline kernel 2.6.29 from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/. Since then, I haven't experienced the problem any more. So maybe it's a issue of the current ubuntu kernel, which will hopefully disappear in comming versions.
