Now this is interesting: apt-get also crashes, and I've attached the crash report. Despite its being a binary and not an interpreted file, there is appears to be a common root cause:
When I run update-manager from the menu, it crashes while trying to perform an update operation; apt-check is likely doing the same thing when it crashes and generates the python crash file; and apt-get update crashed after downloading most (all?) updates - it looked to me like it was trying to update the database when it died. ** Attachment added: "apt-get update crash file" http://librarian.launchpad.net/5703000/_usr_bin_apt-get.0.crash -- Python crashed when I start Ubuntu Edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/74176 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
