what a number of non useful rant, notification-daemon can still be
install and used on jaunty, do you real need to make such much ranting
for some kilobytes notify-osd takes on disk when still installed? there
is gnome-stracciatella-session available to give you an "upstream
session", ie you can select the session on the login screen and
notification-daemon will be running or see
/usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.freedesktop.Notifications.service on how
it's started
