I tried deleting the partion before running usb-creator. I'm not using 
persistend memory.
It doesn't make any difference.

Yesterday I tried it again.
While the system tries to read from my internal HDD, I removed the usb-stick 
and repluged it 1 second later.
And then the system boots up correctly!
I tried it several times and it works all the time.

After booting as explained above, I had a look at gnome-system-log.
I think the attached casper.log is related to this bug.
