you need to install the drivers for your Graphic Card. I already know
what your thinking sound has nothing to do with the Graphic Card. Wrong.
Sound runs through the Card for HDMI support to plugin to TV's and the
like. If you want to resolve this you have to install your drivers again
for your graphic card. If you need help with this, just email me or
catch me on IRC   on channel   #ubuntu      and im me. I will be more
than happy to help you. Have a great day.

Hi,Thanks for the question, but I don't know what you mean. I never
installed any drivers. The previous rt-Kernel 24-23, and the generic 24-24
work fine, so I would not like to try installations if I can avoid it.

Any other help would be great!
cheers,
gf

Status in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Hi!
After a long long time with no problems, and updating constantly on my AMD64
Ubuntu 8.04.2 system. Yesterday's (2009 03 25) rt-kernel and other updates have
killed the sound.

I get this message when I click on the sound adjustment icon:
>
The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This
means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that
you don't have a sound card configured.
You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the speaker
icon on the panel and selecting "Remove From Panel" from the menu.

I'm happy to help debug!
thanks for anything you can do!
GF.
