Charlie, 
I can't read the Deutsch in Christians initial report but I'm fairly sure he's 
reporting a different problem to you. Removing a package doesn't automatically 
remove it's dependencies is a known long-standing issue, apt purposefully 
doesn't automatically remove them. You can remove then via apt-get autoremove
