My symptoms appear to be more attributable to the kernel config settings (ie, the ".config" values in the kernel-build-from-source procedure) rather than the kernel revision. I built 2.6.18.6 and 2.6.19.1 with very similar .config values to the slow-booting 2.6.17.14 and experienced the same 3-minute boot-time problem.
I'm now trying to use the config settings from my 2.6.18.1 build that boots quickly (but breaks on suspends and hibernates) in a rebuild of 2.6.17.14 to verify this. I'm rebuilding an updated 2.6.17.14 as I type this. Assuming this works out to be either a "you get working suspends/hibernates or you get fast boots, but you can't have both" problem: I'm going to be interested in which work-arounds I can find (probably in .config settings) such that I can get both. Otherwise, I'll live with slow boots, for suspend/hibernate many times through the life of one boot. Thanks for any help. I'll supply any updates. -Matt -- boot stall after displaying "IBM Trackpoint..." https://launchpad.net/bugs/74522 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
