I switched to "AccelMethod" "UXA" now. Using UXA acceleration on my lenovo X61 tablet is _much_ faster than EXA. The only issue I see is with some windows (using compiz) having the wrong alpha-channel (multiplied alpha), which is mentioned in https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/324854.
