I experienced a similar problem (not adding postfix to the SASL group)
when installing Postfix 2.1.5 using Debian Sarge.  I did not have the
same problem with Postfix 2.2.10 and Dapper, so I believe that at least
that part of this bug has been resolved.

I still had to manually unchroot.
