Me too I'm afraid. I'm more than happy to test packages, but I don't want to go installing proprietary drivers in any other way. I've done that before and nearly destroyed a graphics card through overheating. Recent nvidia hardware simply needs correctly-functioning nvidia drivers and gets very temperamental otherwise. The lesson I've learned here is to buy laptops with Intel graphics chips :D
