Thanks for running with this Jack. IMHO, what you call a "horrible work-around" is on the right track to the correct solution. Is there a way to have it remember from the first time the system recognizes a valid MAC address? Maybe then a wag-and-a-poke script could run during system installation and maintain the correct, consistent, and globally unique MAC address. (Yeah, the way it's supposed to.) As I wrote before on this thread, this is a problem that was documented and solved 10 years ago. We really should follow the standard and do it "The Right Way(tm)".
