My Sony laptop had a hardware failure, and I replaced it. So, unfortunately, I'm unable to help any more. Now running Kubuntu 8.10 on an Acer Aspire and it's working great.
However, bearing in mind, I couldn't get through the install, I'm not sure how I could have tried changing AGPMode settings. Regards, Steve H.
