sojourner: Could you repeat the previous strace command, but this time
add the -tt option to strace to produce timestamps? Sorry I didn't ask
for this earlier. Could you also please confirm that your ifconfig
output is the same as before (I'm specifically interested in the "inet6
addr:" lines)?

I'm going to reopen this bug, since sojourner was the original reporter,
but at a reduced severity since it is no longer affecting so many
people. I would GREATLY appreciate it if anyone else who believes that
they have a similar problem would please file a separate bug; this one
has already got very confusing.
