I tested with these kernel and they have the problem too: Feisty 2.6.20-2 Feisty 2.6.19-* (I don't remember, but it's the last one) Dapper 2.6.15-27 (not sure, but it's the last one too)
I tested them on my same Edgy (I just updated the kernel). It is strange because I remember that it was working fine few weeks ago.
