Thank you for replying to my bug report.

The problem is completely fixed.
I bought and installed an nVideo GeForce 7300 GS in place of the ATI
Radeon X300 SE.
With the Radeon card, Ubuntu 6.06 LTS and and Ubuntu 6.10 would not
load from the live CD.
Both Ubuntu versions left me with a text login screen.
I actually completed one installation of Kubuntu 6.06, but the system
soon crashed and thereafter the live CD failed to load any more.
That was when I filed the bug report.
Since installing the nVideo card, I have successfully installed
Ubuntu 6.06
Ubuntu 6.10
Kubuntu 6.06
Kubuntu 6.10
I tried each of the four and ended up keeping Ubuntu 6.10.
Ubuntu 6.10 has been running with no problems now for at least a month.
I apologize for not letting you know sooner.

I tried the new video card because I checked out all the Ubuntu
forums and I could not find any reports of a complete failure of the
live CD to load.
That made me suspect that my hardware was causing the problem.

David Robertson.
