I believe that in the past, Bryce has stated that 3D applications that report frame-rates will do. Such as Tux Racer. In order for this to be useful though, you have to be careful to capture your system configuration: XXorg.0.log, glxinfo, xdpyinfo,, etc.
Phoronix also has a test suite that does similar things.
