I have some similar issues. I have a Samsung CLP-300, but have established by booting up into 8.04 that the printer works fine.
The reason I think it's similar, is that I seem to have had the problems after an update. To cut a long story short, I followed the suggestions about debugging printing problems, and the logs suggest that its ghostscript at fault (for me). It reports: Error: /ioerror in --run-- ... GPL Ghostscript 8.63: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1 More details in attached log.
