The problem seems to be the non-free Nvidia driver. Without any desktop-effects the menus are displayed properly but if i turn on the effects the menus are gone. I have two computers both with Nvidia geforce 4 Graphics (one mx220 an one mx440) wich show this behaviour while my notebook with ATI-Graphics works fine with 3D and Open Office.
