This bug can now be reproduced and it is about poor mouse and
mouse/button handling during the slideshow.

Similar but not the same as #292721. I'm running 64 bit ibex on my
gateway laptop. Slideshow runs fine and ends fine if I esc out in 2 or 3
minutes. If I leave it on for a while (so sue me, I like to look at my
girlfriend), esc and all other means of ending it fail. As it takes over
the computer, I can't stop it. Not really knowing what it would do, I
ctl-alt-backsp and it sent me back to the login screen which caused me
to lose all my open work. My guess is that slideshow interferes with
screensaver or powersaver.

+ Per chance, I recreated the problem and know what I did. Turns out that
during the slideshow, there is no way to stop it with the mouse or any of the
mouse buttons. The only way is with the esc button on the keyboard. Fiddling
with the mouse and its buttons for a few minutes caused the slideshow to lock
out the keyboard commands. The only way to stop it was with ctl-alt-backsp. So
now we know, we need a way to esc out of the slideshow with the mouse. In my
opinion, the way Totem Movie Player accomplishes this feature is a good
approach to implement in f-spot
