Hello. The underlying issue, as suggested by Jon above, seems to be that the shutdown dialogue activates after your laptop is woken from a suspend state. This is not typical behavior.
Since the behavior you described (the timed countdown) is, in fact, desired behavior I'm going to classify this bug as Won't Fix until there is a valid reason for changing it. That being said, can you please submit a new bug report against the linux package? From what I can tell,a part of the kernel is interpreting your power-button key press as two events. The first wakes the computer, the second makes the computer think you want to shutdown. Hence, the logout screen starting. Feel free to post a link to the new bug report here for posterity. Thanks for taking the time to help make Ubuntu better! ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Incomplete => Won't Fix -- The "shut down the computer" dialog should not act on a timer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/308823 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
