Hi 2CV67, the linux-backports-modules package contains updated drivers to which likely contains additional fixes to resolves issues like the one you are seeing. You should continue to just keep using the linux-backports- modules package if it resolves the issue you are seeing. The updated drivers will not be backported to the main kernel package - hence the reason we have a linux-backports-modules package. So for now I'm marking this "Fix Released" against linux-backports-modules package and "Won't Fix" against the linux package.
Also, there is an even newer release, Intrepid Ibex 8.10, which you may want to give a try as well. You should be able to test via a LiveCD. Thanks. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix ** Also affects: linux-backports-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux-backports-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- kernel panics when using mouse in Firefox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/308300 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
