I am running Intrepeid Ibex right now, Kernal 2.6.27-9-generic, and am having problems with my laptop (Acer TravelMate 6292). As the "Reporting Sound Bugs" section of Debugging Sound Problems page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems says, I used to alsa-info.sh to generate a link:
