When you say it freezes do you mean glxgears or the whole desktop? It
might be worth trying desktop effects just to see what happens.
Just to confirm are you still running 8.04 or have you upgraded to 8.10?
If you've checked these things and still have problems it would be best
to file a new bug report. Then change the status of this one to
'invalid', as the earlier use of unsupported drivers confuses the issue.
Leave a comment here with the new bug report number (available in the
top left corner) and I'll try and help with the new bug report.
Just to clarify. I'm not a developer so can't solve the bug directly.
But will help to make sure the report is filed correctly increasing the
chance of a fix.
