As far as I'm aware EnvyNG will download the latest driver from the
ATI website.
I've been trying to find a way to check the drivers on the system.
There doesn't appear to be one to do it directly. However, if you go
to:
menu > System > Administration > Hardware Drivers
This will list any proprietary drivers on your system. These of course
are unsupported by the Ubuntu development team.
I would agree that reinstalling the drivers through the repository
would be the best option. If you are still having problems file a bug
report against this.
It may also be worth trying out Ubuntu Ibex 8.10. You never know the
problem may have been solved in this version.
