Robert, 2.6.27-4 probably has the correct(?) patch from Tejun Heo for sata_nv.c. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/220706/comments/16 The patch went in. I know for sure it was in 2.6.27-rc7 from Linus.
But at some later point in time, the sata_nv.c code has changed again. Changed, so that the hard reset is back on NVidia. I pointed to that.
