I just finished the migration of all accounts from Kmail into Evolution. I think this is the real solution. Kmail should not be used in a professional environment because of its many bugs especially the bug that this post is about. I used a script to convert Kmail weird maildir format into the imap maildir format which allowed me to save days of work.
