Would it be feasible to include the upstream patch in Dell specific packages in dell ppa or would that require to recompile the entire kernel?
In any case, I found that getting rid, by renaming them, of /etc/acpi/video_brightnessup.sh and /etc/acpi/video_brightnessdown.sh seems to workaround the problem.
