Ok, I have 12 years of linux experience, a Ph.D. in computer science, and still my only hope now is to reinstall from scratch. I followed your instructions and installed linux-backport-modules-hardy but now I don't have snd_hda_intel support anymore (the module does not exist). Can someone explain here how do you solve this problem so that other persons passing by will solve it too?
