I also found an option in the radeon driver "int10". It says in the man
page to set this to false if you experience problems when working with
more than once device.

Option "Int10" "boolean"
              This option allows you to disable int10 initialization.  Set this 
to False if you are  experiencing  a  hang
              when initializing a secondary card.  The default is on.


I tried it but X still crashes, however I don't get the error code as before, 
just a blank screen.
