Inability to gain access to console through ctrl+alt+F1 through F6 is a signature of this bug. You'll see that this has been a central effort of reporters for the week prior to this bug being acknowledged, as we try to build workarounds and debug. If we could have gotten access to console, we would have likely been at a very different place by now.
