I get it on a desktop. RS480, Radeon Xpress 200. Yes, graphics are onboard. Not only do I get the lockups on restarting X; I've also been unable to fix a random lockup problem. Downgrading to the 8.24.x driver and making all the mods (e.g. to xorg.conf) hasn't stopped the random lockups.
Tried downgrading to Breezy, but can't get the install cd or the live cd to work. After 6 months as a linux newbie trying to get various versions of Ubuntu to work (this lockup problem is only one of many issues; I've never had a remotely smooth install/setup), I finally got tired of messing around. Rather than give up and go back to XP, I ordered an Nvidia card two days ago.
