Hmmm. Ok so I'm reading that people don't want forums for various reasons. In fact I read it four or five times which is why I'm not a fan of mail groups but...
The main reason for me posting it that I want to contribute in some way to the development / promotion of Ubuntu, particularly in Australia and not just take take take. So shelve the forum idea if it's not going to be used. So not wanting to get off topic but to answer my wider question. How can I help? It shouldn't be this hard to volunteer. I've joined my local LUG. Plans are in the tube for teaching new users (14th) and a SFD coming up (November). So thats a physical help. How can I help online? I've tried to offer my services to Admin / contribute to the Ubuntu-Au site (get it up to date) but my offers (both here and on IRC) seem to have fallen on deaf ears. There are lots of people but no President, Marketing or Council to email and say: Hi, I can do this, this and this. What do you want me to do? I really didn't think it would be this hard to help. Talk about banging head against wall. I can understand that a forum may not be useful so what then. Thought? I'm thinking maybe I might try and do an Ubuntu-Au podcast with interviews, news and tips/tricks instead. If this doesn't work I think I'll just concentrate on scouting. Thanks in advance.
