aimed at more established candidates (roughly corresponding to late
assistant professor / associate professor)

We are looking for candidates who will generate meaningful interactions
with the rest of the team. You will find the main research directions
currently explored in the lab below.
There is no definitive timeline but we aim to start the selection of
candidates for interviews in the next few weeks.

If you have any questions regarding the positions, please send me an email

Research directions in the MSR Montreal ML team:
- Designing efficient and modular approaches to develop models that are
easy to combine in new ways to address previously unseen tasks in the
zero-shot and few-shot settings.
Recent relevant publication: Multi-Head Adapter Routing for Cross-Task
Generalization (NeurIPS 2023)

- Understanding the dynamics of large language models and learning how to
build more complex systems by coupling multiple LLMs together.
Recent relevant publication: Deep Language Networks: Joint Prompt Training
of Stacked LLMs using Variational Inference (NeurIPS 2023)

- Building a functional understanding of common optimization tools,
theoretically understanding how optimizers and datasets influence the
learnt function rather than its parameters.
Recent relevant publications: Target-based Surrogates for Stochastic
Optimization (ICML 2023) and Decision-Aware Actor-Critic with Function
Approximation and Theoretical Guarantees (NeurIPS 2023)
