The National Research Council of Canada in Ottawa, Canada is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral candidate to contribute to a project on Reinforcement Learning (RL) and Low-Earth Orbit Optical Satellite-to-Ground Communication (LEO OSGC). The project aims to development an RL-based controller under partial observability for optical signal correction on ground-based receivers. The Postdoc will be among the first exploring and applying RL for LEO OSGC. The Postdoc will refine RL methodologies and also contribute to the evolution of RL beyond theoretical simulations. The researcher will tackling RL challenges such as partial observability, generalization, sample efficiency, and the sim2real problem, while playing a pivotal role in shaping research that enables low-cost, ultrahigh speed, space-to-ground communication to remote locations.
