Örebro University (Sweden) is offering a PhD position in Computer Science with a focus on on learning and reasoning with language models concluding with the doctoral degree. Start date: as soon as possible. The project will investigate how to develop systems that learn and reason with language models in an artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous systems context. While there has been a lot of progress in natural language processing and in machine learning and language models, the ability of such systems to reason remains limited. Therefore, the project will study integrated approaches to learning and reasoning with language models. It will combine symbolic knowledge based approaches with neural models to address problems related to natural language processing (NLP), conversational AI and language grounding. The project is part of the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP), Sweden’s largest ever individual research program, and a major national initiative for startegic basic research, education and faculty recruitment.
