The research area on Machine Learning of Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA) in Lugano, Switzerland is looking for two Ph.D. students in statistics and machine learning for forecasting.
The positions are framed within the Swiss NSF research project “Probabilistic Forecasting: Global Models, Gaussian Processes and Hierarchies”. The students will join a growing research team that specializes in probabilistic forecasting. The Ph.D. projects will be focused on the design and development of new methods for global forecasting, automatic forecasting with Gaussian Processes and hierarchical forecasting. *** About the position *** We look for candidates with a Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or other relevant fields. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in Machine Learning and/or Statistics, good programming skills in R and/or Python and a strong commitment to fulfill research objectives. A background in Bayesian statistics and time series is desirable but not required.
