November 07 - 10, 2022.https://www.ieee-cloudnet.org Call for Papers =============== The IEEE CloudNet 2022 Posters and Demonstrations sessions offer an opportunity to present and showcase late-breaking research results, ongoing research projects, and innovative work-in-progress. Topics of interest are the same as research topics in the CloudNet conference Call for Papers. The interactive presentation format is an excellent opportunity for networking and engagement. We strongly encourage student and industry submissions. WHAT TO SUBMIT? The authors will submit a short poster or technical demonstration paper, written in English, describing their work. The paper may state the work’s problem statement, its main challenges, underlying techniques and methodologies, and significant contributions. In the case of demonstrations, it may also describe the intended showcase. The paper must be **no more than four pages long, including figures, tables, etc. but excluding references.** The paper must follow the IEEE formatting guidelines at http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html . Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings and submitted to IEEExplore, provided that at least one of the authors registers at full rate and presents the Poster/Demonstration at the conference. Best Posters and Demonstrations will be offered a short plenary presentation in the main track. The posters and demonstrations submitted to CloudNet 2022 must be original and should not be concurrently submitted to other workshops or conferences during the poster and demonstration review period. Submission Guidelines ===================== Submit Posters and Technical Demonstration short papers using the EDAS website at https://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=29433&track=111065. Authors can submit their poster or demonstration paper (no more than 4 pages + 1 additional reference page) by selecting the “Short paper” track. If you want to present a technical demonstration or a poster without submitting a companion paper, please email your proposal to the Posters and Demonstration Chairs: _Mathieu Bacou (mathieu.bacou AT telecom-sudparis.eu)_ and _Anubhavnidhi Abhashkumar (archie.nidhi AT bytedance.com)._ Your proposal will be approved based on the availability of demonstration space and the potential impact on the audience. GENERAL: The program for the poster session will be detailed after the selection process. The Authors(s) are expected to: - Set up their posters before the first-afternoon sessions start (i.e., before/after lunch). - Be present at their poster for the entire session. - Explain their paper to the collected audience. - Answer questions and interact as appropriate. - Remove their materials by the end of the last afternoon sessions. B. SETUP, POSTER STYLE PRESENTATIONS, and SUGGESTIONS FOR GOOD POSTER PRESENTATIONS: - All poster materials should be provided by the Author(s). - Adhesive Putty will be provided at the poster desk to attach poster materials to the wall. - Posters may be printed on **A0 or A1 paper** or in a similar format, in portrait or landscape layout. - Please try your material layout before you arrive and make sure it fits in the assigned space. - The title of the poster session should be displayed in large font, 36 - 60 point, to help the audience find your paper. - Your main point or conclusion should be in large font if it is not covered in the title. - **A font below 18 points is difficult for the audience to read.** Try not to include any smaller print on your presentation. - Avoid large text sections in all capitals; it can be challenging to read. Use CAPITALS and/or bold to emphasize your points. - Display the highlights of your presentation in larger font, 24 - 40. **Use color to emphasize the crucial points.** - Pictures, charts, and graphs are very effective when kept simple. Too much detail will obscure the main points. Use color! - Information flow is most effective from left to right and top to bottom. - Your posted materials should be as self-explanatory as possible. Attract the audience's attention and then answer detailed questions. - Consider that the viewers will be two to three meters away from your material and adjust the print font, charts, graphs, and figures accordingly. The audience will not have the time or the space to read pages of text. - The audience at poster sessions moves! They may want to visit several posters during the session. If you plan to give a presentation, it will probably have to be repeated several times as the audience changes. **Keep your speech short, hit the high points, and invite questions.** - Some attendees may be very interested in your topic and will want to monopolize your session time with questions, and this may turn away other attendees that are also interested. Recognize this as a factor and **be prepared to acknowledge all visitors.** - If you want to interact with certain audience members later, have cards with your contact information available. C. SETUP, DEMO STYLE PRESENTATIONS, and SUGGESTIONS FOR GOOD DEMONSTRATIONS: - All demo materials should be provided by the Author(s). - Individual demonstration spaces will be provided to the Author(s). Please contact the Posters and Demonstration chairs if you think you have special needs (e.g., extra space). - Prepare static material to advertise your demonstration for people to identify quickly what this is about: title, authors, keywords, high-level diagram… - Please try to prepare a demonstration that does not need an Internet connection; in the eventuality, it becomes unavailable or overloaded. - Your demonstration should be as visual and demonstrative as possible: moving and interactive graphs and dashboards, live interaction with the demonstrated work… Avoid rolling walls of terminal output. - Demonstrations often go wrong: it is always a good idea to prepare videos of the scenario you plan to play at the session. - The audience at demonstration sessions moves! They may want to visit several demos during the session. If you plan to play a demo scenario, it will probably have to be repeated several times as the audience changes. **Keep your speech short, hit the high points, and invite questions.** - Most of the advice given above for posters also fits the demonstration presentation.
