The First Workshop for Building the Foundations of the Metaverse (MetaBuild
2022), in conjunction with IEEE VR 2022, aims to bring together system
researchers, engineers and content creators to identify open directions and
discuss the latest research ideas and results on technological foundations
towards the development of the upcoming metaverse ecosystem. The MetaBuild '22
workshop focuses on engineering building blocks of the metaverse and the novel
approach for content creation in the metaverse. The topics include but are not
limited to the following:

  *   Engineering the metaverse
     *   Mixed Reality
     *   computer vision
     *   IoT and robotics
     *   Blockchain
     *   User Interaction
     *   Future Networking Technologies
     *   Cloud and Edge Computing
     *   Artificial Intelligence
     *   Avatar and presence
     *   Virtual economy
     *   Social acceptability
     *   Privacy and ethics

  * Content creation in and for the metaverse

     *   Imagery
     *   Textual
     *   Musical

Authors are encouraged to submit papers describing original and unpublished
research, not currently under review in other venues. We strongly encourage the
authors to communicate their works using a variety of communication media,
including text, images, photos, sketches, and to name but a few. In particular,
innovative, early-stage ideas and preliminary results are welcome. Authors are
suggested to use the IEEE TVCG Conference Format with a length of no longer
than 6 pages (excluding references) for short papers and position papers, and 2
pages for a demonstration. The reviews will be double blind. At least one of
the authors of every accepted paper must register and present the paper at the
workshop. Submission should be made through Precisionconference at:
https://new.precisionconference.com/vr (Society: VR; Conference: IEEE VR 2022;
Track: Workshop: Building the Foundations of the Metaverse).
