The Department of Computer Science at KU Leuven, Belgium, has an opening for a
tenured / tenure track position in the area of databases for artificial
intelligence.

Data is one of the driving forces behind the artificial intelligence
revolution, and the ability to use and to exploit data effectively is key to
the success of artificial intelligence. Thus a synergetic relation between
databases and artificial intelligence is necessary. This is the research topic
of this vacancy, with a special focus on synergies with knowledge-based
systems, machine learning, and declarative languages, the core areas of the lab
for Declarative Languages and Artificial Intelligence. We are looking for a
candidate with a strong research profile in computer science, specifically in
the areas of database theory, foundations, languages, systems, or algorithms.
The ideal candidate has substantial expertise on topics such as scalability,
efficiency, knowledge-bases, declarative languages, machine learning and
trustworthy AI.

The position will be embedded in the DTAI lab, the lab for Declarative
Languages and Artificial Intelligence, which has a rich tradition in machine
learning, knowledge representation, reasoning, and declarative languages.
