Dear colleague, We are pleased to invite you to contribute a paper to our Special Issue "*Advances and Challenges in Educational Robotics*" in /Robotics/(ISSN 2218-6581). Both comprehensive review and original articles are welcome.
*Guest Editors*: Prof. Dr. Igor Verner and Prof. Dr. Christian Krägeloh Special Issue Website: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/robotics/special_issues/EducationalRobotics *Deadline* for manuscript submissions: *30 June 2020* Education is currently facing challenges to adapt and keep pace with the fast-changing technological world. The radical digital transformation and massive introduction of robots in industry and everyday life give grounds to speak about the beginning of a new industrial revolution. This matter necessitates novel pedagogies that will prepare people for the deliberate use of the new technological systems and active participation in their development. Therefore, it is urgent to introduce, at all levels of education, teaching robotics and teaching with robotics in ways that align with the current demands. This Special Issue aims to present new innovative approaches to teaching smart robotics and using robotic environments to enhance the learning of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We solicit original contributions which report on the development of robotic environments, implementation of educational activities, and evidence-based evaluation of their learning outcomes. Of special interest are papers in which robotics activities combine design and analysis and involve exploration of disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, virtual and augmented realities, and 3D printing. Relevant to this Special Issue are also contributions that explore acceptability and acceptance of educational robots as well as other psychosocial aspects such as opinions, perceptions, attitudes, or exploration of suitable psychological outcome measures. The proposed approaches can target formal or informal education in universities and schools and address general, gifted, and special education students. ------------------------------------------------------------------ If you decide to contribute to this Special Issue, please inform us. The Editorial Board of Robotics strives to ensure a rigorous and efficient peer-review process for all manuscripts, in order to ensure high-quality manuscripts are published in a timely manner (if accepted after the peer-review process). Robotics provides an advanced forum for studies related to all aspects of robotics. It is covered by leading indexing services, including the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI—Web of Science), Scopus(citescore 1.53), nspec (IET) and DBLP Computer Science Bibliography, and other databases. /Robotics/ is fully open access. Open access (unlimited and free access by readers) increases publicity and promotes more frequent citations, as indicated by several studies. Open access is supported by the authors and their institutes. An Article Processing Charge (APC) of CHF 1000 currently applies to all accepted papers. You may be entitled to a discount if you have previously received a discount code or if your institute is participating in the MDPI Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP), for more information see: http://www.mdpi.com/about/ioap. In case of questions, please contact us at robot...@mdpi.com. For further details on the submission process, please see the Instructions for Authors at the journal website (http://www.mdpi.com/journal/robotics/instructions). We look forward to hearing from you.
