We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join our efforts in developing deep learning methods for early diagnosis of breast cancer with different medical imaging modalities, including mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound and breast MRI. The candidates are expected to have strong machine learning and computer vision skills to work on methodological advances improving accuracy, robustness, and explainability of deep neural networks for this application.
The candidate will be based primarily at the NYU School of Medicine (Krzysztof J. Geras, Linda Moy and S. Gene Kim) and will work in close collaboration with the NYU Center for Data Science (Kyunghyun Cho). Expected qualifications: - PhD (or near completion) in machine learning or related discipline - Experience with deep neural networks for computer vision - Excellent programming skills - Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team with members at various levels - Prior experience in medical imaging is a plus but is not essential Some examples of our recent work: - Wu et al., “Deep Neural Networks Improve Radiologists' Performance in Breast Cancer Screening” (http://arxiv.org/abs/1903.08297), - Shen et al., “Globally-Aware Multiple Instance Classifier for Breast Cancer Screening” (http://arxiv.org/abs/1906.02846), - Żołna et al., “Classifier-agnostic saliency map extraction” ( http://arxiv.org/abs/1805.08249), - Fevry et al., “Improving localization-based approaches for breast cancer screening exam classification” (http://arxiv.org/abs/1908.00615), - Park et al., “Screening Mammogram Classification with Prior Exams” ( http://arxiv.org/abs/1907.13057), - Wu et al., “Breast density classification with deep convolutional neural networks” (http://arxiv.org/abs/1711.03674), - Geras et al., “High-resolution breast cancer screening with multi-view deep convolutional neural networks” (http://arxiv.org/abs/1703.07047) . Please apply no later than the 20th of December 2019. Start date: As soon as possible. The position is supported by an NIH grant. The initial appointment will be for a year, with the option to renew further. We offer a competitive salary, adjusted to the costs of living in New York, and subsidized housing provided by the NYU School of Medicine. To be considered for this position, please send your CV with a list of publications and the contact details for two references to: k.j.ge...@nyu.edu. Please use the string “[postdoc, deep learning for breast cancer]” as the subject of the email. We look forward to hearing from you! Krzysztof J. Geras, Kyunghyun Cho, Linda Moy, S.
