We invite applications for a postdoctoral position to conduct research in
the Computer Science Department at Brown University. The successful
candidate will help lead a broad team of students, researchers, and faculty
working to develop new machine learning methods which learn with less
labeled data. The project PIs are Professors Stephen Bach, Michael Littman,
Eli Upfal, and James Tompkin. We are looking for a talented, motivated, and
highly collaborative person to help lead high-impact projects on the topic
of weakly supervised machine learning (broadly construed and shaped by the
candidate’s interests).

Minimum qualifications are a PhD in computer science or a related field;
publications and working skills in areas such as weakly supervised and
unsupervised machine learning, computer vision, or natural language
processing; and strong oral and written communication skills. Preferred
qualifications include experience mentoring or supervising students
(including undergraduates) and strong software development skills. This is
in principle a two-year appointment beginning Summer 2019, with renewal for
the second year contingent on satisfactory performance. Professor Stephen
Bach will supervise the appointment.

Interested candidates should submit the following documents to Professor
Stephen Bach (sb...@cs.brown.edu):

- Cover letter describing the applicant’s interest in and suitability for
the position

- CV with references to publications

- Names, affiliations, and email addresses of two references
