We invite applications for a postdoctoral position to conduct research in the Computer Science Department at Brown University. The successful candidate will help lead a broad team of students, researchers, and faculty working to develop new machine learning methods which learn with less labeled data. The project PIs are Professors Stephen Bach, Michael Littman, Eli Upfal, and James Tompkin. We are looking for a talented, motivated, and highly collaborative person to help lead high-impact projects on the topic of weakly supervised machine learning (broadly construed and shaped by the candidate’s interests).
Minimum qualifications are a PhD in computer science or a related field; publications and working skills in areas such as weakly supervised and unsupervised machine learning, computer vision, or natural language processing; and strong oral and written communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience mentoring or supervising students (including undergraduates) and strong software development skills. This is in principle a two-year appointment beginning Summer 2019, with renewal for the second year contingent on satisfactory performance. Professor Stephen Bach will supervise the appointment.
